Saturday was my aunt and uncle's annual egg decorating party. They provide all the supplies to do pysanky, the Ukrainian style wax-resist dying method, and then open their doors and let their friends and neighbors go wild. It's something I look forward to every year. Mostly because it is so fun to see what people come up with. Jill and Dan are both artists as are many of their friends so the results can be pretty spectacular. It's not as straightforward as it looks because you have to apply wax and then dye in layers usually from lightest to darkest like batik. Totally messes with your brain. (Actually started planning this one in my head a few weeks ago and so happy it came out how I envisioned.) The pictures below are just a smattering since I could only stay a short time this year due to my damn kids, I mean beloved offspring. Note to self: next year hire sitter for entire day.
That matryoshka doll egg is to die for cute!
And the baby?! That smile?! Are you kidding me?
